¿Cómo empezó todo?


En el año 2000 nuestra academia abrió sus puertas por primera vez en Almería con un nuevo método para aprender inglés basado en el dominio de las cinco destrezas del idioma: escritura, comprensión, lectura, habla y escucha. Desde entonces no hemos parado de cosechar éxitos y abrir nuevos centros McGinty School por toda la provincia de Almería.

Angus McGinty

Soy de Edimburgo, Escocia. Fundé McGinty School of English en el año 2000. Desde entonces no hemos parado de innovar y crecer. Me encanta el mundo de la enseñanza y mi trabajo, no existen dos días iguales. Me da una enorme satisfacción ver alumnos comenzar su aprendizaje del idioma con nosotros y terminar logrando sus objetivos de obtener una formación completa y con las herramientas necesarias para enfrentarse a un mundo globalizado.

Isabel Sánchez Morales

Administración / Recepción
Soy de Almería y comencé a trabajar en McGinty en 2009, desde entonces me encargo de labores administrativas y atención al cliente. Me encanta trabajar codo con codo con los profesores y ver a nuestros alumnos alcanzar todos sus objetivos.

Estrella Fernández Blanes

Administración / Recepción
Soy de la Alpujarra almeriense y los idiomas siempre fueron mi pasión desde mi infancia. Con anterioridad he trabajado en mediación cultural, asesoramiento laboral y programas de formación. En 2010 comencé a trabajar en McGinty desarrollando labores de administración y atención al cliente. Es una enorme satisfacción para mi poder asesorar y ver crecer a cada uno de nuestros alumnos tanto a nivel educativo como personal.

Katy Hornby

I’m from Scotland. I have lived and worked in the UK, Paris and for the last 10 years here in Almería . Almost everyone in my family teaches, it’s who we are and what we do! I love helping students reach their individual goals, and helping teachers reach their own professional goals, my job as Director of Studies gives me the unique position of being able to do all of these things and more.!

Chloe McMullen

Jefa de Primaria
I’m from Northern Ireland. My love of languages led me to become an English teacher. After finishing my Masters in Languages and Translation I gained my Postgraduate Diploma in TESOL and immediately moved to Spain. I have been teaching in Spain for over 15 years and have been Head of Primary at McGinty School of English for 10 years. I love teaching primary aged children as we have a lot of fun learning.

Nick Maxwell

Teacher - coordinador niveles C1 y C2
I’m from Birmingham. I´ve been teaching for more than 10 years and apart from the UK, I have worked in Figueres, Las Palmas, Valencia, and Huelva before deciding to move to Almería in 2014. I’m the Coordinator for the higher exam levels (C1 & C2). I´m also very proficient with IT and help to keep all of the systems running correctly in the school .

Annalisa Tomasello

Teacher - Coordinadora Infantil
I’m from London. I´ve always wanted to work in education and most importantly, work abroad. I studied languages at Edinburgh University and then started teaching firstly in Melilla before moving to Almeria in 2014. Teaching infants is challenging but extremely rewarding! I love seeing how quickly they pick up the language - (sometimes) faster than my adult students!

Simona Gargiulo

Teacher - Coordinadore Nivel B2
Since graduating as a teacher I have been teaching for over 11 years, firstly in Italy, then in the UK and the last 7 years for McGinty. I teach a variety of ages and levels but have specialised in secondary school levels and in particular B2. Teaching is my passion and I get so much satisfaction from seeing my students progress and achieve their goals.

Victoria Kell

I’m from Liverpool. I´ve been teaching for 12 years, both in Italy and Spain. I truly believe that one of the greatest gifts that we can give students is the ability to be able to communicate in another language. I very much enjoy working with young children and teaching all my students lots of English vocabulary through fun, communicative activities, and helping them to build a linguistic foundation.

Alex Dicker

I’m from Bournemouth. I’ve been teaching for 7 years and have called Almeria home for the majority of that time. I specialise in teaching adults and the business sector but am also equally comfortable and happy teaching younger learners and teens. I love my job, teaching allows me to meet new and interesting people almost everyday. I now feel like part of the furniture and look forward to many more happy years here.

Jason Newton

I’m from London. I´ve been teaching for 25 years in France, Italy and Malta before deciding to move to Spain in 2014. I arrived in Almeria in 2016 after working in Granada for a couple of years. I´ve worked for McGinty School of English for 4 years and enjoy teaching adults and B2/C1 levels as I find it rewarding helping students to move forward in their personal and professional lives.

Natalie Oram

I’m from South Africa but have been living in Almeria since 2013. After graduating from university in 2006, I started my teaching career in Japan and then in Moscow, Russia where I continued to study and work (and froze) for two years. I’ve been working at McGinty School of English for the past 7 years as both a teacher and co-coordinator. I pride myself in my ability to teach all ages and levels and the variety is what I like most about working here.

Joana Tellechea

I’m from Kent, England. After finishing my degree in London, I decided to move to Spain to teach English. I started in Córdoba where I worked for 6 years before moving to the coast, and I’ve been at McGinty since 2018. I enjoy teaching a variety of courses, from young learners to adults, and I particularly like teen classes and higher levels, as we can really explore the language.

John Uter

I have been a teacher for around 8 years. I’m British and have worked in both the UK and America. I came to Spain at the end of 2007 and have worked for McGinty School of English for 2 years in both Almeria city and Aguadulce. I enjoy teaching because it gives me great pleasure to hear and see students progress. My favourite levels to teach are 7 years and older.

Kristen McDonald

I have been teaching English since 2013, firstly in Jaen before moving to Chile and then returning to Spain in 2019 to join McGinty School of English. I like to make my classes very high energy and fun. I work best with young children as they are so open to learning. I love teaching because no two days are the same. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing how a student can progress throughout the year.

Ímola Ceske

I have been teaching English for 6 years. I started teaching in Edinburgh, and then in Budapest. I’ve been working at McGinty School of English since 2017, where I have been able to develop my passion for teaching young learners. My favourite age to teach ranges from 5- to 7-year-olds.. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing your students grow confident in their language ability, which is why I love teaching.

I’ve been teaching for over 13 years and have lived and worked in South East Asia and Europe. I have been working at McGinty School of English since 2014. I enjoy helping students to achieve their goals.

Sam Pennington

I’m from Manchester and have lived and worked in Spain since 2007 before joining McGinty school in 2012. As a teacher, my aim is to promote a comfortable, relaxed and fun environment for students. I consider myself to be humble, honest and empathetic, especially when working with young learners. I teach all levels, from young learners to adults, which include preparing students for the Official Cambridge English Exams.

Toby McMillan

I’ve been teaching for around 20 years. I´ve taught in many different countries including Sri Lanka, Greece, Andorra and Latin America, to name a few. I arrived in Almería in 2016, after having lived in Mexico for 8 years. I teach all ages and abilities and thoroughly enjoy every second of it.

Tim Baker

I’m from Brighton. I began my teaching career in Brighton in 2010 before moving to Asia. After a few years in Hanoi, Vietnam, Seville and Italy I arrived in Almería in 2018. My love of language makes teaching the perfect job for me. Whether I’m teaching young learners or adults, beginners or advanced, I get a great sense of satisfaction from seeing my students progress.

Charlotte Leonczek

I am from England but grew up in Hong Kong where I started my teaching career in a Kindergarten. I find teaching English to all age groups rewarding, and strive to guide every student to meet their full potential, but I have a special place in my heart for Very Young Learners, I love to see the world through their creative perspective.

Amy Bond

I’m from Worcestershire. I’ve been a teacher for 7 years and have worked in Russia, the UK, Italy and Spain. In 2018 I arrived in Almería and began working at McGinty. I enjoy sharing my language and culture with students of all ages and it was this that drew me to teaching. I’m looking forward to meeting you in the classroom!

Claire Hatherley

I have been teaching for 8 years and have lived and worked in the US and the UK. I moved to Spain in 2007 and have been working for McGinty School of English for 2 years mostly in the Aguadulce centres. Teaching is a lot of fun and I enjoy getting to know my students and trying to introduce some British culture to make learning more interesting, and I love the challenge of helping students to pass their exam levels. 

Chris Milton

I’m from Aberdeen (Scotland). I’ve been teaching for around 8 years, in various countries including Indonesia, Scotland and Spain. I am a qualified UK school teacher but prefer the wonderful world of English language teaching. I have been with McGinty ever since I moved to Spain. One of the things I love about teaching English is the variety of ages and levels I get to interact with on a daily basis.

Emma Gordon

I’m from Northern Ireland. After qualifying as a primary school teacher, I taught in the UK for 2 years before moving to Spain in 2016. I have taught in both Almería and Benalmádena, but have always felt happier and more at home in Almería, I thoroughly enjoy working at the school and it gives me the greatest pleasure to be able to help students, especially the little ones to learn and excel in the use of English language in a fun and enjoyable way. 

Jeremy Pilbrow

I’m from Brighton. I have been teaching for 26 years in Israel, Lebanon, Germany and now Almeria, I taught at the University of Brighton for 15 years. I have taught academic and business English to University students and adults in Britain and in Germany. I am enjoying the variety of teaching experiences here at McGinty School of English and the challenge of learning Spanish.

Nick Wilson

I worked as a UK primary school teacher before moving abroad. I´ve taught in Madagascar, Tanzania and Seville, before joining McGinty School of English in September 2019. I love the variety of my job and feeling part of a friendly and accomplished team. My goal has always been to make learning a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

Scott Devlin

I have been teaching English for 5 years. I have lived in Scotland and Canada before arriving in Spain almost 5 years ago. I Chose to teach English because I love languages and enjoy teaching people something new. My favourite age to teach is anywhere from teenagers to adults.
